Each year, people from around the globe are drawn to London at Christmas time to witness the stunning decorations, festive spirit and world-class shopping experience the city offers. The world-famous department store, Harrods, is renowned for is spectacular window displays and this year’s Avant Garde theme is a delightful display for all to enjoy.
Inspired by family feasting, the theme ‘Fantastica’ takes customers on a sensory journey through a series of classy tableaux, featuring festive rituals with a luxury Harrods twist.
From a gargantuan Christmas feast, to celebrations with Ellie Saab and unwrapping presents with Bottega Veneta, this year’s displays signify the splendour synonymous with the festivities and the Harrods brand.
Greeting shoppers just outside the store, stands an eight-metre high Christmas tree. Situated on Hans Crescent, the tree, which was sourced in Surrey, features over one hundred oversized gourmet delights including playful candy canes to gourmet cranberries and Brussel sprouts.
In store, the celebrations, led by the Department of Surprise and Delight – the Harrods’ team dedicated to creating unexpected moments of joy for all – will revolve around the 12 Moments of Fantastica, a calendar of interactive activities including live musical performances and beautiful ballet performances.
Throughout December there will be pop-ups and tutorials, gift personalisation and one-day-only experiences, including Chanel’s fortune cookie kiosk, Harrods food tastings and performances from the Royal Academy of Music.
The specially commissioned Harrods team dedicated to the project tirelessly took 500 hours - over five months - to carefully craft the bespoke handcrafted designs. All of which were individually made in west London to bring this year’s series of enchantment and wonder to life.
